Firriato Hospitality - Cavanera Etnea

I am not sure that 5 stars will ever be enough to convey to someone who has not been to Cavanera Etna just how majestic the winery, view, rooms, SERVICE, pool, view, gym, basically everything is at this superior property. The natural sparkling wine is better than any over priced bottle of Champagne I have ever tasted, and far better priced. If you are in the area, we highly recommend staying there. We wish we allotted more time to relax and sip wine and enjoy everything that this establishment had to offer us. Without a doubt, do the prix fixe dinner with the wine pairing and tour. Roberto is enthusiastic and informative and all around fun. The food and service are exceptional. TRY THE OLIVE OIL! It’s almost as good as the wine. I hope that next time we are on Sicily we can find a way to spend more time enjoying Cavanera all over again.

Strongly recommend against staying at this winery, it was absolutely not worth it and I wish I had not stayed the night. Although beautiful on first glance if you look closer things are falling apart. Our room had a problem with the tap and the shower was dislodging from the wall. The walls are very thin and you can hear people walking around upstairs. These things we were fine to look past but overnight one of the lights kept flickering on which we made an effort to sleep through. From 3am the panel of lights directly above our heads in bed began flashing and could not be turned off, this persisted all night and became faster in frequency. We were unable to sleep and had to sleep on a small sitting couch and on the floor behind the door in the corridor. We spoke with reception about this in the morning and showed videos, her response was there was nothing they could do. We were pretty taken back by this response and asked for some sort of compensation, initially saying nothing could be done, then saying our dinner could be refunded, and then after checking with management her manager had declined everything and said there was nothing to be done. Not even an apology for our experience was given until we asked. I’m very very disappointed by our experience which was made even worse by the handling by management, there was absolutely no effort to make up for the poor experience of our stay.

Had an awful stay here last week. There was an issue with our room and management refused to take any responsibility for this or offer any sort of apology. Breakfast was very underwhelming and I’ve had goon sack wine that’s better than the stuff they produce. It’s tempting to book this place as it does seem like good value on the surface but you can see where they have cut costs making it a very disappointing experience

This place had a lot of potential, unfortunately due to some really awful events that happened I cannot recommend others to stay here. - The area upstairs from the reception where there were three rooms (my friends and I were staying in two of the rooms) had the most awful stench like sewerage it was so unpleasant and sickening. - the rooms were also very paperthin i could hear everything from the rooms next door including all conversations and sounds - checkin was at 2pm and my room wasnt ready until 3.30pm - the buffet breakfast was super underwhelming - my sisters room had a strobe light directly on top of their eye view in the bed that was flashing all night and they did not sleep at all - in the morning they asked for some compensation- the staff asked them to wait around for 30-40 minutes saying they would be sorted out and came back saying management said no Just an awful experience for a 4 star resort and after how much money we spent there for the night $1500 aud accomodation and dinner.
